Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Paper Planes Digital (“we”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use Syllabite.
Information we collect
We process account identifiers, your selected school and academic term, course and task records, device and app diagnostics, purchase and entitlement records, support messages, and product activity such as screens viewed and features used. When you upload a syllabus, we process the document to create your course plan.
How we use information
- Provide authentication, syllabus processing, planning, notifications, purchases, and purchase restoration.
- Secure the service, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and measure reliability.
- Provide support, manage account access, and meet legal and accounting obligations.
AI and document processing
We first extract text locally. We may send extracted text or a PDF to OpenAI to produce structured course information. Requests are configured not to be stored by the model provider. Do not upload documents containing information unrelated to your course.
Service providers
We use providers including Render for API and database hosting, Amazon S3 for encrypted source-document storage, Vercel for web hosting, OpenAI for structured extraction, RevenueCat and the Apple or Google stores for purchase verification, Resend for sign-in email, Clerk for administrator authentication, and Expo for app services. Each provider processes data under its own terms and our configuration.
Retention
Source syllabus objects are deleted within 30 days and sooner when you delete your account. Product events are retained for up to 24 months. Billing and administrator audit records may be retained for seven years. De-identified daily aggregates may be retained indefinitely.
Your choices
You can request account deletion in the app or follow our account deletion instructions. Deletion removes or pseudonymizes personal references except records we must keep for fraud prevention, accounting, disputes, or law. You may also contact support@paperplanes.digital.
Children
Syllabite is intended for US higher-education students and is not directed to children under 13.
Security and changes
We use access controls, encryption in transit, encrypted object storage, and audited administrator actions. No system can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy and will post the new effective date here.
